Born in 1996, Banyan Tree is founded to preserve, nurture, promote and propagate the rich heritage of the performing arts. With this as our guiding passion, we curate and organise events presenting diverse art-forms from India and abroad. Our reputation rests on the admiration showered on us by audiences across the country and the globe. Ninaad Records and Studio, our music label, is a storehouse of exceptional recordings across genres. In 2014, we launched our not-for-profit arm Tender Roots Academy of Performing Arts to provide children and young adults with exposure, engagement and education in the performing arts from India and the world. In 2020, our second non-profit Meri Kala Meri Pehchaan was born as a response to folk artists’ sustenance needs in the Covid times. Today, it thrives as an outfit dedicated to nurturing folk artists, and folk arts.

ANANT blessed us with the privilege of presenting Bharat Ratna Pandit Ravi Shankar in his Farewell Concert at the age of 90, in Mumbai on 19 December 2009. He played for nearly three long hours accompanied by his daughter Anoushka Shankar. It was a truly unforgettable event for us, and for each present in the Shanmukhananda Hall, the largest in Mumbai.
G20 Orchestra - Sur Vasudha gave us the distinct honour of participating in the curation of the official G20 Orchestra presented to delegates of the G20 Culture Working Group in Varanasi in August 2023. The official Sur Vasudha Music Album was later launched under Ninaad Records on Spotify by the then Minister of Culture, Shri Arjum Ram Meghwal, Shri Amitabh Kant, Sherpa - G20 India and Shri Govind Mohan, Secretary Culture and Shri Suresh Sharma, then Director of the North Central Zone Cultural Centre.
Ruhaniyat - our flagship festival - went international in the year 2014, and was presented for audiences in Turkey. This concert was organised in association with the Istanbul Technical University (ITU), and featured performances by artists such as Parvathy Baul, Chaar Yaar, Kachra Khan and Turkish musician Latif Bolat - regulars at the festival over the years. Notably, the concert was attended by the then Indian Ambassador to Turkey, winning accolades from the Indian Embassy in Turkey.
